ADVANTA Cup 2005

Date: 15th - 17th July 2005

Race types: E1 - middle, E2 - sprint, E3 - quiet longer sprint, E4 - classic (handycap)

Arrival and parking:
The easiest way is come to Opočno perifery (direction from the square to Dobruska), where is the crossroad next to the cemetery to village Semechnice. After 130 meters there is on the right side a grass parking, after 270 meters there is a larger verge, where you can park too and after 400 meters from the crossroad on the left side is the camp Broumar - competition centre.
Enterance to the camp is behind the road signal "End of the town" (you can't miss, there will be an arrow). Only competitors who are accommodated in the camp can drive in, other competitors shoud use the first two pakring kinds.

Registration:
Friday - from 12,00 to 20,00 in centre
Saturday - an one hour before stage start
Sunday - from 8,00 to 8,30 in E4 stage centre
You don't need to register before E1 start, there will be no new information except the ones on the internet and the stage centre. It's because of friday, when people are in their jobs, they don't need to leave it early and they can come to the stage "ready to start". But if you will take this chance, please register yourself till the end of registration on friday at 20,00.

Accommodation:
Competitors who want to be accommodated in the camp should meet a camp manager to pay her an accommodation fee to get all the camp comfort. Camp is not so large, please don't waste its space. You can drive in with your car or caravan.

Attention to accommodation: Is forbidden to take any glass away from the camp restaurant (beer-glass, etc.). Is forbidden to have any glass-bottles close to the pool too. Easy said - no glass!

Punching system: Electronic system SportIDENT for all classes. If the SI fails, please use the R fields in map to mechanic punch.

Control descriptions: Will be available as a self-service in the stage centre

Start lists: Whole start list (E1-E3) will be in the centre, a stage start list will be available in every stage centre.

Results: Running results in the stage centre, final results in the competition centre.

Expected winner times:
E1,E4 according to valid rules of Czech Orienteering Federation,
E2,E3 winner time 20-25 minutes.

Finish organisation: In the finish the competitor finish the race punching the finish SI unit and reading his SI card in the computer. It will be done when you won't finish the race too. After finish you keep your map, so we appeal to your fair play sense that you won't show the map to any other competitors who don't run yet.

Forbidden areas: Please don't enter to a fresh-planted clearings, fences, especially the private estates (on the map it's the symbol Settlement) and of course the fields are forbidden areas too!

Protests: by written form with fee 200,- Kč to the judge

Stage centre: Village Zákraví, orchard next to a collective farm on the end of the village in direction to Ohnišov. Way from Broumar will be signed through Dobruška by-pass to Náchod, on the crossroad next to petrol station turn right, then immediately left to Nový Hrádek and after 4 km in Ohnišov turn left to Zákraví.

Start: 00 = 15:30, way to start will be signed by blue and white streamers

Distances:
Competition centre - stage centre: 10 km stage centre - start: 500 m
stage centre - finish: 0 m
stage centre - parking: 0 m

Toiletes: ToiToi in stage center, no toilets at the start

Washing: there will be a tank with water and washbasins

Refreshment: In the finish water with syrup, in stage centre small stall with basic O-sortiment

Map: Hořící kráva, 1:10000, E 5 m, spring 2005, no waterproofing

Terrain: Eastern-Bohemia megamix (flat land with much clear forrest, some dirty forrest, some undergrowth, some larch and spruce thickets, there flows a small creek (with a small waterfall), which makes shallow valley with some boulders and rocks, many roads and paths).

Time limit: 120 minutes

Results: running results will be hang on in stage centre, all class winners will be announced till 18:00 in stage centre.

Attention: All meadows on the map are used for cow pasture so there is around everyone an elecric fence, which isn't drawed in the map (every year it has another shape). Be careful!

2nd Stage

Date: 16th July 2005

Race type: sprint

Stage centre: Opočno - kemp Broumar (the same as competition centre)

Start: 00 = 9:00, way to start will be signed by blue and white streamers

Distances:
stage centre - start: 1800 m
stage centre - finish: 2000 m
stage centre - parking: 300 m
Because there is a long way from finish to centre, for kids (HD10-14, HDR) there will be available a car traffic.

Toiletes: no toilets at the start, please use the camp toiletes before you go to start!

Washing: Showers in the camp

Refreshment: in the finish water with syrup

Map: Cihelna, 1:5000, E 2 m, spring 2005, no waterproofing

Terrain: Abandoned brickfield area with contiguous clay pit, almost flat open terrain, many terrain forms, partionaly with undergrowth.

Time limit: 75 minutes

Results: running results will be hang on in centre, all class winners will be announced till 18:00 in stage centre together with 3rd stage winners.

Attention: Race area is an abandoned brickfield with many reminders to this work as some iron stakes, girders, ferroconcrete pieces, etc. so be very careful about yourself! Especially be careful inside buildings, uncovered holes in concrete floor are too deep. Don't go to higher roof (stairs, ladders), controls are only in the ground floor. There is one small but very dangerous place (unstable girders) marked by a rope, enter to this area is closely forbidden! In the clay pit you really don't meet a lawn, so we recommended you to use a long throusers (because of nettles).

3rd stage

Terrain: Chateau park, argillite rocks in 'Zlaty potok' valley and Opočno historic area

Time limit: 75 minutes

Results: running results will be hang on in centre, all class winners will be announced till 18:00 in stage centre together with 2nd stage winners.

Attention: There is a very steep slope in the chateau park partionaly covered with leaves and little stones with high argillite rocks. If you choose your downhill way here, be careful, because when you will have a slip, you should get over a high elevation levels very fast, but there is a 15 meters high cliff on your way down and we really wouldn't like you to hurt yourself. The park exit is formed as a wooden gate with small doors in it. If the gate would be closed, don't panic, just open it! The gate is never locked. Another way how to leave the park is a watergate in a place, where the creek flows into the park, but it's only for swimmers. It is forbidden to climb any walls! We recommended you again to use a long throusers (because of nettles in conclusion the courses)

4th stage

Race type: classic distance - handicap start

Stage centre: Šediviny

Start: 00 = 9:00, hendikep, way to start will be signed by blue and white streamers

Distances:
Competition centre - stage centre: 17 km stage centre - start: 500 m
stage centre - finish: 0 m
stage centre - parking: 300 m

Parking:Will be used a meadow close to the stage centre

Toiletes: in centre there will be ToiToi, at the start there are no toiletes

Washing: there will be a tank with water and washbasins

Refreshment: In the finish water with syrup, in stage centre small stall with basic O-sortiment

Map: Hlucký les, 1:10000, E 5 m, spring 2003, no waterproofing

Terrain: Submontane terrain, small forrest complex, close to creek 'Hlucký potok' are steep slopes with rocks and boulder fields, clear forrest (except many thickets), many paths.

Time limit: 150 minutes

Results: running results will be hang on in centre, every first three competitors in all classes will be announced till 13:00 in the stage centre.

Attention: Longer classes (H18, H21A, H35A) are crossing a road. Cars go here very fast, so be careful when crossing. For these classes there will be a refreshment on the course.
